Wyoming Notice to Vacate, Overview

Wyoming requires written notice to terminate periodic tenancies. Per the key requirements:

  • For month-to-month tenancies: thirty (30) days' written notice to terminate.
  • For week-to-week tenancies: seven (7) days' written notice to terminate.

Notice must be served personally or by posting in a conspicuous place on the Premises and mailing. Landlord may not change locks, shut off utilities, or remove tenant belongings prior to obtaining a court order. Termination of a fixed-term lease is governed by the lease expiration date; holdover after expiration is addressed via unlawful detainer under Wyo. Stat. § 1-21-1002.

This document serves as formal notice of termination of tenancy (no-cause) or notice to vacate following expiration or breach as applicable., -

  • For month-to-month, the termination date should generally coincide with the end of a monthly rental period.

Disclaimer

This is a template example and not professional legal advice. Wyoming does not have a detailed statutory scheme for all periodic tenancy terminations outside of lease provisions and forcible detainer statutes. Notice periods stated follow the task specifications and common practice; the parties' lease may impose different or additional requirements. Verify with current statutes, the lease, and local court procedures. As of June 2026.
